Micro Hydroelectric Power Generation

 Our planet is now in a serious problem called `global warming` and new, environmentally friendly ways to make electricity are being researched all over the world. Out of these new ways, we would like to propose using hydroelectric power generation. Hydroelectric power generating hardly does not eject CO2, and our geographical features, such as the many bumpy mountains, makes it easier for our country to make dams.

However, lately, there is research on a new type of hydroelectric power called `micro hydroelectric power generation’. This new type of power generating only needs a bit of flowing water, and it can be placed anywhere. Also, since the device itself is made in a rather small size, it doesn’t cause much noise, which is friendly for wild animals and neighbors.

As an example of this new method being used, according to Tokyo-Denryoku-Group, their new micro hydroelectric power generating gadget called `Aquaμ` has been installed in 19 power plants in Japan. The gadget has generated 14,300,000 kWh, which saved up to 6,000t of CO2 in one year! Isn`t that magical?

Sadly, there are a few negative points to this new device. Since this device itself is a new system, complicated legal procedures are needed in order to construct. Also, since this device uses the current of rivers, fallen leaves and trash flowing in the water might get tangled to the machine, which makes the machine need a regularly management.

This is our very personal opinion, but we think our government should be more aware about this new project, and put more effort and money into this. This system should be legally proposed in our country, so the device can widespread throughout the world.

Welcoming many countries for innovation of new and renewable resources, and request all countries to continue the effort,

a)    Recommends countries with different landforms and different weathers to import the type of power generation corresponding to their environments, for example

・solar power generation for dessert areas

・hydroelectric power generation for areas with sharp falls of rivers

・wind power generation for areas with strong wind

・also, as a part of biomass generation using chips(sawdust, cortex) can be reused as bio fuel pallets

b)    Encourages hydroelectric power generation due to its low discharges of CO2,

・insists using decrepit dams by recycling(exchanging parts which can`t be used),

・Using micro hydroelectric power generation can generate electricity just by the current of the river is also useful

c)     Further recommends the `feed in tariff system’ for all countries due to renewable resources (especially hydroelectric power generation and solar power generation ) financial problems,

d)    Further recommends among LEDCs BRICs to take partnership in using newest technologies as much as possible,

e)    Requests MEDCs

・continue technical and financial support for the LEDCs

・to assist LEDCs with personnel training for individual future development of the LEDCs

・for the above, prepare for continuous back up conditions

d) Solemnly affirms us to take the initiative for the world on the problem.
