Interview Leo's grandmother

I interviewed my grandmother and she told me a long long story when she was about 14 years old.

She lived in the North-East part of Thailand call 'Korat' province.  She used a paraffin lamp or an acetylene lamp because there was no electricity.She lived with a hard life. She has to do a lot of work in the day. At night, she had to study with only a little light from the lamp. Now she has a problem with her eyes.

There was a World War II and the soldiers have to go to the battle with France who were on the right side of Khong River, she had to cook some food and gave it to the soldiers. Instead of using plastic or metal box, she used a banana leaf.   When she cooked, she used a charcoal to build a fire. After she used it to make a fire, there would be ashes, she used them to use as a soap or detergent.

She had to trade for living and walk between two provinces which would take about 4 hours a round to walk. Once she went to Chaiyaphum(a province which is next to 'Korat') to buy a fabric about 5 kg. On the way home, it was raining and the road is a earth ground. The fabric continuously increasing weight from 5 to about 20 kg. There was a bullock car with a man rushing, she was very happy and shout to the man to let her on the car but he didn't hear her. She tried everything until she caught up with the car and threw a bag full of wet fabric on to the car but the wet fabric was too heavy. It was on a mud which made it more heavy and dirty. She dragged it until she reached her house, her mother saw her. She quickly have a coal heated and let her daughter had a bath. After a coal heated, she put it into an iron and iron the fabric until it was dry while my grandmother had the fabric washed within one night and had the fabric sold the next morning. What a hard life she had!!

After the marriage, my grandfather had no money either. On the wedding day, my grandfather had to borrow the costume from others and will give money back when he had. When my grandma saw them, she said to my grandpa 'Give them back, I don't need them at all. We will fight through a hard life together with no money to show other people.' My granny lived by making a medicine from herb and had them sold. In the dawn, my grandpa would get up and have breakfast.What was his breakfast? Just a one raw egg!! How could he eat it? He just made a hole on the tip of oval. Filled in some soy sauce and pepper, then shake and tilt it  and the raw egg was flow into his mouth through the hole!! After he ate it, he went to find herbs and got back in the morning when everyone got up. Then have the medicine been made and sold.

For the best of all, people were very honest to each other, there was a small number of criminal, they help each other and know each other a lot. And now she has her lovely grandson who is very handsome(hahaha just kidding or maybe it is true.) She deserve to have what she want now for a hard life she had pass.
