the lifestyle of my grandmother's youth(50s～70s)

 This is the lifestyle in summer of my grandmother's youth(50s～70s).

The climate of 50s Japan was much cooler than after 90s Japan and not so muggy.
And what they did was only to use water and make their house airy.
 

Every morning they sprinkle water in front of their house so that they can keep the ground cool during the day. And in order to make the shade, they made bamboo blind. That does not only make the shade but also the house airy.
And they made fruits and vegetables cool with water drawn from well or river because all of them didn’t have the cold storage yet. Now we can see the view in the countryside locating near the cool river.
After sunset, they put away bamboo blind and open all windows.
They moved on the porch with a fan and mosquito repellent.
On the porch, they talk, play shogi, drink something, take a rest, and so on… all of the family were there. Though it wasn’t so convenient, but there was a good relationship.
 

Even now many people take this lifestyle. Moreover, many people pay attention to this again as an ecofriendly lifestyle.
