Living in the countryside

As for the third assignment I interviewed my grandpa. He’s 75 years old and for the most of his life he has lived in Zbylutów which is a typical polish village. My grandparents own there a little farm. He shared with me some of his experience and thoughts about the past.
Garbage
My grandpa underlines that actually there was NO garbage. Leftovers were used as a feed, papers were burned, bottles – cleaned and used again.
Fertilizers
My grandpa used to use only natural compost for a long time. But as the artificial manures became more available he adapted them.
Energy
My grandparents remember time when there was no elecrticity. Of course nowadays they use the same devices as we do, maybe except mp3 players : ). Gradually they bought new household equipments, first – radio, then tv, and finally fridge, which is an intresting order.
Health
It is my grandmother’s belief that people used to be more healthy and didn’t suffer from illness as often as they do now. People had a lot physical labour and obesity was very rare.
