Where You Go

INTERVIEW

I interviewed my grandmother about appearance of 1940's in Japan.
She is 72years old.
She grew up in Kyoto in Japan.

At that time, most of the tools used in home ran by charcoal or wood.
For example, people cooked by "KAMADO", it likes oven.
They also heated the bath by burning the charcoal or wood.
In winter time, they used "HIBACHI", which is a kind of basket for hearting purpose.
It is used charcoal to warm up.
In summer time, they performed "UCHIMIZU".
They got coolness by watering the road and garden.

And, they did the wash and cleaned by themselves.

Now, the tools run by gas or electricity, so tools run easily and our life become convenient.
But then, an increase of gas consumption and electricity consumption threatens environment.

In Japan, an experiment taken over traditional "UCHIMIZU" is beginning recently.
In this system, we save the rains and we sprinkle the water in summer days.
We can get surface temperature on the road by vaporize the water.

Learning this, combining modern science with traditional wisdom is necessary to save the earth
